Code of Conduct Policy
POLICY STATEMENT
In order to provide a safe, clean, welcoming environment within the library that allows all patrons to use library facilities to the fullest extent during regular business hours, the library board of trustees has adopted the following rules and regulations.
RULES AND REGULATIONS
Any patron not abiding by these or other regulations and regulations of the Library may be required to leave the premises and may forfeit his or her library privileges. Library employees will contact the police if deemed advisable.
The library board of trustees authorizes library staff and law enforcement officers to enforce the library’s code of conduct policy up to and including long-term suspension of library privileges, permanent banning from library or prosecution.
Persons entering or refusing to leave the building after being evicted or banned will be charged with trespassing.
A patron whose privileges have been suspended or revoked may have the decision reviewed by the board of trustees.
Unauthorized use of the Library’s computer network or failure to comply with the library’s Computer Use and Internet Access Policy may result in suspension of library privileges.
In cases of disruptive behavior patron identification including name, address, and phone number, may be requested.
The use of the Library, its grounds, or its services may be denied for due cause. Such cause includes the following but is not limited to:

Failing to comply with library rules

Failing to return library materials

Failing to pay fees and fines

Damaging or misusing materials or property

Removing library materials from the building without checkout.
The use of the Library, its grounds, or its services may be denied for on-site activities deemed objectionable by the Library Board. Such activities may include, but are not limited to:

Being under the influence of alcohol or illegal substances

Sleeping
-
Taking photographs or videos of library users without their permission

Smoking, using tobacco products, or use of vaping devices

Not wearing appropriate clothing including a shirt and shoes

Patrons whose bodily hygiene is offensive as to constitute a nuisance to other customers or library staff may be required to leave the building

Bringing animals, other than services animals, into the library

Selling, soliciting, panhandling, or loitering

Misusing the restrooms, laundry, bathing, shaving, dressing, etc…

Leaving adults requiring supervision or minors unattended for long periods of time

Talking loudly, using offensive language, noisy or boisterous activities, or engaging in disruptive or threatening like behaviors

Interfering with any other person’s use of the Library, including but not limited to harassing, intimidating, stalking, or prolonged staring at other customers or staff

Interfering with Library personnel in the performance of their duties

Misusing or damaging library property

Bringing weapons to the Library unless authorized by law
